Animals in Art: Flamingo

Products with vintage illustrations, featuring a flamingo (Scarlet Ibis), a detail from a 17th century drawing by the female artist Maria Sibylla Merian. On a journey to Surinam (South America) in 1699, a quite dangerous one, she drew (scientific studies) all sorts of exotic animals, including this scarlet ibis. Its feathers are a beautiful brilliant orange red color.
