Cunningham Clan's Finlaystone House in Scotland

Cunninghams around the world can enjoy unique gifts that celebrate their ancient Scottish heritage and its history at Finlaystone House, a property of the Dennistoun family before passing to the Cunninghams in the 15th century. It was the seat of the Earl of Glencairn until 1796. The present house was built, or rebuilt, in 1760 following a 14th century structure. Among the famous visitors have been Robert Burns, a friend of the 14th earl, and John Knox, who is said to have preached beneath one of the trees on the grounds. Finlaystone House overlooks the river Clyde, near the village of Langbank in the Inverclyde Council area in Renfrewshire. This is now home of the chief of Clan MacMillan and, during normal times, has been open to the public during the summer. The popular red and black family tartan is available under Crown Copyright, from The Scottish Register of Tartans, which notes that the black was originally blue, but the color changed before it was registered.
