MacAlister Scottish Clan Kennox & Glenbarr Abbey

McAlisters around the world can enjoy unique keepsake gifts that celebrate their ancient Scottish Clan MacAlister heritage and its history at Kennox House and Glenbarr Abbey. The Lowland Scottish MacAlister Clan broke from Clan Donald about 1200 and had large holdings in western Scotland. The family is relatively new to Kennox House, which was built after John Somerville purchased the land in 1700. The family is also associated with Glenbarr Abbey, situated on ancient ancestral MacAlister lands that encompassed much of Kintyre and Knapdale from the 12th century on. The clan is a branch of Clan Donald, being considered the earliest branch to have split from the main. The MacAlister clan claims descent from Alasdair Mor, son of Domhnall, founder of Clan Donald, and originated in the Western Isles. Clan members were Jacobites and lost their lands and fortune following the 1745 uprising. It is considered a Lowland Clan as Kennow House is located in North Ayrshire, Parish of Dunlop Scotland. #scotland #scottish #customgifts #scottishgiftshop #personalizedgifts #scotlandxmas #scottishChristmas
