William Morris: The Rose & Lily Pattern
The stately black, gold and red "Rose and Lily" pattern was designed by John Henry Dearle (1859-1932) for Morris & Company in 1893. This rendition is a length of silk and wool first hung in Merton Abbey, Surrey, and now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/221484).
