SOMALI CATS 365

My husband and I have been involved with and enchanted by Somali cats since the '70's (almost before they were 'Somalis'!) Way back then we started exhibiting Persians and were members of the Empire Cat Club in NYC. The first Empire show we participated in as both members and exhibitors was the turning point for us; it was there that we saw our first Abyssinian. He was being held high above the heads of the spectators as his owner rushed to get him to the show ring. We had never seen such a breathtaking cat and were determined to learn more about them. Our inquiries continued at the shows we attended and as luck would have it we met a group of Somali fanciers. Sorry Aby lovers, once we saw the Somalis we were admirers for life. We've never owned an Aby, only Somalis. Many years later along came the internet and in 1997 we created our Somali history website. In 1998 we were honored when the site was awarded the Lycos Top 5% from Carnegie Mellon University. Though we no longer have a Somali sharing our lives we are as ever taken with their beauty and designing gift items for and about them is one of my most pleasant pastimes.
