Adam Cruz is a DJ, artist, songwriter, author, producer, record label owner, and music business advocate known for his creative production style and soulful musical vision. He has recorded and collaborated with acclaimed artists including Eddie Nicholas, Flora Cruz, Gerideau, Lillias White, Manchildblack, queen AaMinah, and more. As a DJ, Adam is celebrated for his high-energy blend of Jazz, Funk, Latin, and soulful Dance music, earning a devoted community of dancers and music lovers. He has shared the stage or studio with icons such as Mel Cheren, Louie Vega, Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, Josh Milan, Kevin Hedge, and Lillias White. Adam runs his own independent label, Mixtape Sessions, and co-owns Honeycomb Music with longtime creative partner Josh Milan. Through Mixtape Sessions, he has released several successful projects, including his “Freedom” LP series and his debut book, Free the Music Business: Tips and Tales from an Indie Music Nerd, praised for its insight and inspiration to independent artists. Dedicated to community and creative empowerment, Adam launched the Mixtape Sessions Music Conference with support from Arts Ed Newark, focusing on artist wellness, financial literacy, and industry trends. The second conference partnered with the Lincoln Park Music Festival’s virtual programming. Adam is also an emerging visual artist. His “Plena Punk” series explores Puerto Rican identity through digital art, typography, and symbolic storytelling, with recent exhibitions during National Hispanic Heritage Month and the Newark Arts Festival.
