I love interacting with children. During one of these interactions, my young friend shared with me that when you mouth the words "Elephant Shoes," it makes the same formation on your lips as "I Love You." That stayed with me because I LOVE elephants. I started sharing that same observation with the people I met - young and old alike. Each time, there was the same reaction, sweet laughter and a beautiful smile. So I decided to name this store "Elephant Shoes," with the intention that anyone who comes across it (or the designs and products in it) will laugh and smile. The feeling will spread. Each of the designs in this store are made to increase a positive perspective. Of course, when I watch the news or even walk down the street, there are a great many challenges and tragedies. There is indeed, burgeoning anger, hate (self and to the other), divisiveness and violence. But I also see beauty, wholeness, love and healing everywhere, perhaps even more so. It's just we give attention to the negativity. My hope with Elephant Shoes, and these designs, is to place the attention on what's beautiful about ourselves and the world. To start talking about what's common amongst us. To bring forth unity. May the people who buy or receive the Elephant Shoes products feel seen, understood and loved. May the people who see these symbols feel that same energy, thereby increasing understanding, compassion, unity and love within ourselves and in this world.
