Art of Sandra/ Kani Honu Photography

Born in Long Beach, California in 1971. I grew up mainly on the west coast and some in the Midwest, primarily the state of Iowa. I come from a family of artists in their own right. Primary living with my biological father, I grew up in the world of his business designing race cars, street rods and vintage automobiles. Not knowing that my biological mother who created a world of her own abstract art and worked in theatre and as a film extra, actor and make-up artist. I started creating art in 1992 after the birth of my daughter, but took a break after the birth of my son in 1994. On and off thru the years I created but did not let my emotions unleash. Once again I took breaks until 1996 and then in the year 2001, my life changed. After attending a art salon event in Lakewood, Ohio, my creative bug unleashed, and has yet withered away. I have never formally trained as an artist nor taken any traditional art classes. My art is basically what my brain is telling me to place on paper, canvas or other mediums, yes like I said before what fuels my art is emotion. In light of all things I finally made the leap to becoming a full time artist, giving up the world of the 9-5 job. I am also a wife and a mother of 2 beautiful children and 3 very childlike animals. I am currently located in Schwetzingen, Germany and enjoying the beauty that Europe has to offer.
