The idea for Hazel Mae Paperie started while I was finishing my Graphic Communications degree at Northern Michigan University. I was newly engaged and had a couple of projects that helped form the idea for this new business. The first was my need for a stand-out project for my individual art review. For this, I chose to design my own wedding invitations. In the process of designing my invites, I fell in love with the idea of helping others create their very own personalized invitations. The second thing that helped form Hazel Mae Paperie was a class that required me to research the idea of a new business and come up with a business plan. I used my new-found love for wedding stationery design as a basis for this project. Since then Hazel Mae Paperie has branched out to much more than just wedding suites. My current favorite projects are hand lettered art prints!
