I'm a sailor, artist, and writer who started Please Make Way to honor my friend and sailing mentor, Bill Brown. Bill, who told me that "old age is not for sissies," wished there was some way that people who were not visibly disabled could wear a t-shirt that had the same image as a handicapped parking placard. At Please Make Way, my designs combine Bill's idea with original artwork to make the universally-known "wheelchair" icon colorful and interesting. Whether it's on a t-shirt, a tote bag, a button, or a baseball cap, the message is clear. Not all disabilities are visible.
