From my earliest years, I enjoyed art, math and photography. Our family owned greenhouses which was a huge part of my early years combined with summers spent at a cottage on a lake. It was a balance of education, work and play; we were taught a work ethic and were encouraged to follow our interests. In the 70’s, I spent a lot of time traveling around the west and actually drove part of the original route 66 from Chicago to Arizona; driving cross-country with 3 other women: no cell phones and just our camping gear...sleeping under the stars. These were years of experiencing so many challenging and fun adventures: working with horses in Colorado......rounding up horses on the western slope of Colorado...working with computers in the early years...riding burros down the grand canyon...hiking in the White mountains. This country and it's people are awe-inspiring and diverse!! In 1990, my husband and I bought a business in northeast Oklahoma. We needed signs for our business and by learning to use proper brushes, signboard and composition, I found my niche and Signs by Sikorski was founded. I learned a lot about design and combined with photographs I've taken over the years, is the basis of my designs/graphics. Today I am semi-retired, live with my long-haired shepherd Rufus on a horse ranch on Grand Lake in northeast Oklahoma. My stores showcase a wide variety of subjects.: Recovery, slogans and inspirational sayings… flowers, butterflies, and birds… Grand Lake, Oklahoma, maps and postcards… Route 66 and over the road designs… pets and critters… to name some of the subjects. In 2008 I was introduced to Zazzle and knew it would be a good place to show my designs. Today, many of the designs can be customize by adding your own photos and or text; the designs can be transferred to over 1,000 products. I am so very grateful for the the life I live and the country I live in. Life is a journey... Enjoy it...one day at a time.
